On a scarcely inhabited planet earth, between floods and droughts, a machine programmed to manufacture plastic buckets for collecting rain water, is unable to stop. The surviving humans long to be more like their robot peers, who unlike them cannot grieve for the end of life itself. The mysterious self-replenishing ability of ecosystems become mythological. Every last human struggle has long since been commodified by the ghost of capitalism. One can only try to find solace in the redemptive force of love or the hope of being rescued by benevolent aliens.
Cyborg Barbie takes form as four songs released on an edition of forty recycled cassettes and deals playfully with an imagined post apocalyptic future. In these eerie art brut pop songs Omen combines modular synthesis, samples, field recordings and her voice to deliver dystopian dream-like musings carried by minimal beats.
